Quick little fix that I love
One pet peeve I had on board: The cabinet doors in the galley are “drop down“ and attached with ball chain. These chains continuously snap or came loose. I replace them with small stainless steel cable. Issue is resolved… Love it.

I like your idea. My cabinet chains keep breaking, too, and I could totally use this.
What do you use to crimp the fittings that come with the kit? Are they small enough to just use pliers or wire crimpers? -- Jeff Bird S/V Priorities C400 #53 Milwaukee, WI mysailingfix.com |

Jeff, The crimps could probably be done with a pair of pliers, but a crimping tool would be better. I have one similar to these (although I didn't splend nearly as much as this Klein tool costs!). Using the "non insulated" part of the crimper, it bends over and crimps in at the same time, making a sturdier crimp, while a pair of pliers simply crushes. If you really want to make it pretty, use solder instead of crimping. Use a piece of shrink wrap to finish off the look. For an even nicer appearance, dip the entire loop into Plasti-Dip.

So I just used a wire crimper...worked just fine. But I love the idea of shrink wrap...wish I had thought of it!
