Hi Jim: Your hull number is #335. My hull number is #247. I wonder if some modifications were made to make it easier to remove the old tank without taking off the outer casing.
…your thoughts?

Ditto what Morgan said. But we were able to get the 20-gal tank out without removing the casing. But it was a bit of pain to get the old one out. The 11-gal Kuuma went in pretty easy. 1 day job.

I had to remove the wood door frame, shelf and all of the plumbing under the sink. It was very tight, so I ended up also removing the aluminum casing on the old water heater and was able to pull it out in two pieces. Because of the size of the 11 gallons replacement, it went in without any problem. The entire project was done in a day. Take a lot of photos before you take the old one apart. It will help you when installing the new unit.
